Corvus Daggers and Swords

"Murder" Tactical Gladius
“Murder” Tactical Gladius

A murder is the proper terminology for a group of crows. Our new tactical gladius, the Murder, is the flagship for our Corvidae series of edged weapons. The intent of this short sword design is to provide a dependable backup weapon for those who might need to incapacitate antagonists of all shapes and sizes.

Blade:
The prototype batch is water-jet blanked from .285 thick O1 Tool steel. The blank weighs 3 pounds before being ground to its final form. After the grinding and hand sanding is done, the blade is professionally heat treated for maximum toughness to a hardness of 56-58 hRc. Standard finish is NIC Cerakote in either a standard Graphite black/Socom blue dual tone camouflage to resemble the coloring of crows and ravens. Earth tone custom camouflage or solid color finishes are also available.

Handle:
The standard micarta handle may be textured or left smooth according to the preference of its owner. Extra handle sets (finished or unfinished) can be purchased separately for end user customization and can be changed out with a 3/32″ hex key.

Sheath:
An ambidextrous, Molle compatible kydex sheath is included, and may be ordered in Black, Green or Tan. Kydex can be painted, so color and camouflage options are endless.

Baby Crow
Baby Crow

The “Baby Crow” is our smallest symmetrical bladed dagger. It is made from 1/4″ thick 1095 steel, Austempered to 52 hRC for maximum toughness. It is robust and has a hefty feel in the hand.

Specifications:

  • Overall length: 7.75″
  • Blade Length: 3.5″
  • Weight: 4.8 Ounces (full tang version), 4.5 Ounces (5 holes in handle light version)

Price includes a custom fit Kydex sheath with boot clip or Malice clip for attachment to Molle webbing.

The full tang version (as shown) will include hand stippling for style and grip. A lighter version with additional holes in the handle will be available without stippling option to reduce weight. Stippling may also be offered on the light version for an additional $20.

The first batch of Baby Crow daggers was Electroless nickel plated, but the rest will be offered with standard Cerakote finish to keep the cost down. As this knife won’t be used for day to day chores, it makes sense that the Cerakote will provide adequate protection from rust.

They will ship out razor sharp and have no identifying marks or serial numbers

Note: The Baby Crow is similar in size to the Gerber Guardian dagger, or mini EK dagger that was available in the mid 90′s. I ordered a mini EK from the US Cavalry catalog in 1995; it arrived dull and I think I spent 4 hours with an EZ lap diamond stone trying to put an edge on it. The Baby Crow is a viable option for those who need a tough backup weapon for work or the unfortunate days that happen on occasion.

The Corvid is inspired by the Smatchet style combat knife that was used by the OSS and Special air service in Great Britain during WW2. Smatchets were made in relatively small numbers when compared with the earlier 1914 Bolo, which was similar, but only single edged.

  • Overall Length: 17.25″

  • Blade: 1095 steel, Austempered to 52 hRc, Electroless nickel plated and Cerakoted
